Power steering woes....

I recently bought a 98 gtp that has (what I thought) is power steering pump noise... it sounds like an angry cat you know the typical power steering noise... Well, last night I got ambitious and changed the P/S pump... I followed the bleeding procedure to the T and it still makes the same noise... I don't get it... any other suggestions?

The first replacement ps pump I installed for my GTP also made noise, just because it new or re-new, does not mean good, as I always seem to find out the hard having to change it out twice, only to get another one that is still not 100%, but do-able. Also, the best way solve issue with the steering system is to change the ps pump and rack and pinion assembly TOGETHER at the same time so that contamination from one does not end up damaging the new part installed.

hows the power steering feel? hard to turn when sitting still? left turns harder then right turns?

if that all feels good, before and after the new pump, just how loud was the pump whining? low whine? or that im shot screaming whine?

heres my story, my pump started to whine then i lost all power steering,( started out harder to turn left when croaking) i put a new pump on, no whine at all, but still no power, next step was a used rack, after that its been like butter to turn.

i do know people do complain that they can hear the pump whine somewhat, and its fairly normal. now i know people crap on duralast parts, but i got one of their pumps, it dont make a sound, ever, its silent 100%. so id recommend one, its almost 2 years old now, zero problems.

The whine has stayed pretty consistent before and after the pump change.. The power steering feels fine.. Not hard to turn one way or the other... And it doesn't sound extremely loud just irritating and embarrassingly loud.

All I generally use is duralast parts because I work at AutoZone.. Its a reman duralast pump I just put on it.

Honestly, it's a name on a box... I just bought a "Duralast" front caliper. The first Autozone I went to had one, I bought it and it looked like an old one that was dipped in that grey crap they use to coat it. The threads for the banjo bolt were so messed up I could not get my break line on. Well I took it to another Autozone, they had one and WOW the difference... It looked brand new, it has all new bolts, pins, shims, brackets, everything. They looked at the one from the other Autozone and actually thought it was a core. Brand is just a box name, all the parts are the same...

I haven't checked my ps fluid. But its easier to turn left than right. If I'm doin ligght turns it dont make a noise. If it dies I cnt hear it. But if I maje hard turns and heat it up I can feel it in the steerin wheel. More grinding nnnoise turnin left Than right.

Turns out it's not the power steering pump or rack or anything making that noise... I bought a fancy mechanic stethoscope the other day and the most noise is actually coming from the A/C compressor (which the clutch has disappeared from) and the idlers and tensioners on the s/c drive... Wow! Wish I'd bought the stethoscope a long time ago idk how much money it would've saved me...
