Power steering...how to bleed system???

I have a 2000 GTP. Does anyone know the proper way to bleed the air from the power steering system. I just replaced a leaking pressure hose in the system. It had to be replaced because my DP was rubbing it and caused it to fail.

get the front wheels off the ground. Then disable fuel so it will not start. Crank the engine while turning lock to lock for about 30 sec let it sit do that again. Then drop the front end down and do it with the engine running.

I always just fill it with fluid and drive it. The air eventually works itself out. Turning lock to lock will help bleed the system. But I never heard anyone recommend doing it while cranking the engine over.

how does the engine running stop air from getting out?

With the engine running, and the PS pump turning, the oil can cause cavitation, or get air bubbles in it. And therefore won't get all the air out and cause issues. But again, even though this has happened to me, just driving it a little bit has always worked for me.
