odd thing is... I am making a cake for them tomorrow. you could SAY that it's layered chocolate but really you just butcher a cake with chocolate sauce. it melts through and crystalizes zomg

If you can get fondant icing to taste good, you win. Namely because you can make amazing designs, and have it taste good.

Or take the easy way out and use butter based icing underneath it.

see, its win win.. and matt, michael's sells "duff" brand fondant, from that TV show with the guy named DufF.. forget the show name..

apparently its the best premade one available, my sister inlaw uses it all the time
 
I'm not sure about that brand. I know my sister's tried a whole bunch of different recipes for the stuff before finding one that struck the balance between taste and ease to work with.
