• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

There is a "policy" in our handbook about moonlighting, aka having a second job. I have been told by several people, including other business owners that there is no way an employer can tell you that you are not allowed to have a second job.

It depends some jobs u can have a second job but u just can't work at certain places. Like u can't work at a competiting businesses or something like that

Unless it was a competitor or something similar I don't see why they would care unless they needed you to work during the hours that you usually work the second job.

After all they can't control what you need to extra money for.. If it come shown to it..bank I would imagine is giving you benefits vs the gas station that probably isn't.

I want to quote you all and respond but the nitty gritty is this.
Guessing they're asking you to work sats at the bank?
no. eventually, yes. but regardless if they do, my shifts at the gas station do not interfere with the bank.
How did you get in trouble?
i had to contact the hr administrator in writing and ask for permission. i cleverly wrote "to continue working at..."

their policy is for full time employees, no other jobs unless special circumstances. for part time its free game. which is why i was a bit perturbed i was confronted.

my thing is, i'm only doing one shift a week, on a weekend, during non-bank hours. what i do in my free time should be my decision. if i worked at another bank, yeah perhaps i could see their argument. but at 25 hours a week, i can't afford my bills without it.
so idk what the deal is but it's over now. it was just documented and i was granted permission:rolleyes:

So.. we just had 3 full time people quit at my work, and a couple of weeks ago I asked my boss if she could give me more hours. So last week I went from having around 25 hours to having 40 hours and 6 hours of OT. This week I also have 40 hours, and next week I have 40 hours... Hard to get used to lol.

Oh, and I got a raise :)

just 40 hours a week.......jk

You'll do fine..

As some know, I am nearly living at my girlfriends house full time. Last night I'm working in the garage and got the text "ac is broken, packing up dogs and will see you soon". I kicked the AC a little lower and herded the cats into the basement with their water, litter and food. I doubt they would have any concerns about the older of the two dogs since he is super lovable and easy going ...it's the 8 month puppy I was thinking they wouldn't like. Golden's aren't known for being low energy when they are young. Later on I looked over and told her, "Having a second house is pretty good when something goes wrong." :th_thumb-up:

Thinking this morning..it's like having a second car....only more expensive.

yea but still...run out they never run out at the only subway on base and let me tell you that one is packed for lunches every day
