the only possible thing i can think of. is that if you have something in your trunk/car thats new, that you bought in the states and is bringing said item into Canada, they want a % of whatever it cost you, as long as it totaled over $100.

i thinks.

Yeah. Like I bought it In the states. Didn't pay Canadian taxes on it. They want their piece of the action. So duty.

Just some info on that.

After a stay of 48 hours or more in Canada, a U.S. citizen or resident may return to the U.S. with:
  • US$800 worth of goods per person, tax and duty free
  • Purchases may include 1 liter of alcohol, 200 cigarettes (1 carton), and 100 cigars.
  • Family members may combine their tax and duty allowances.
  • Any purchases in excess of the US$800 allowance may be subject to duties and taxes.
  • US citizens may buy these amounts once a month.

Omg...can this night go any slower? I can think of many many other things to waist my time than standing in this h3ll hole for 3 hours of my life.

I sent a package to Canada today with a commercial invoice with a balance due of $1,650...that's gonna suck come duty payment time.
