Some know a week ago I heard a bang while trying a small power brake in my 00 Silverado. In the trucks defense, I've overloaded, overstressed and pushed this truck past the breaking point many times. This was the first time I honestly broke anything and it still drove fine the mile back to the house. No, after the bang I didn't look. I hoped it was a broken leaf spring.

Hop out and look around the back, I notice the oil on the road and ....


This truck has the G80 limited slip rear diff. Known on forums as the Grenade80. How this one made it to 160K is beyond most guys belief. As well, sometimes when it would lock it would not want to unlock. To fix the issue, I'd spin the tires again and it usually unlocked. I never checked fluid etc. I'm a bad owner.

Had to turn truck around to back into garage, heard noise in diff and after making the full turn.. that was the end of the diff. Pushed it into garage. Found a good rear axle and swapped it in this weekend. Took a moment to open the other and see what occurred.





Seeing this, I am amazed it drove home that last mile and turned around.

Ole reliable is back on the road.

Anyone know a fairly cheap scan tool that also does ABS and Airbag codes? Something in the 100 buck and less range.

The one I posted is the one the local Advanced uses. I believe it clears ABS stuff, but I'd research more before purchasing. Dan has something similar. You could PM him about what he has.
 
I looked into it and it never mentioned anything about ABS or SRS codes so I dunno.
Which dan? Smuts or Dan Prix?

(2) Even if they are, he only got 11 pushrods

I told him he was a ****ing dumbass and should not be allowed near a car on that Facebook post and he deleted it.
