Gr8racingfool - boxer puppies are like the most amazing thing in the world. we had pick of the litter from one of my dad's friends a couple years ago. she's got to like 65 pounds by now and she's spoiled rotten. way to not get her ears done too, i like that better
Darby will be 1 year this month. We kinda got pick of the litter too, out of the 6 left when we got there. Out of the 3 girls, 3 boys that were left, she hung around us while we were there. The others kinda all played in their own group, and when we were all out side, they all ran off to go get into "trouble" together, and she stayed by my side.
So, in a way, she picked us.
Shes my first dog I have ever had, we never had any pets growing up, but I always wanted one. I decided on several breeds, and it was narrowed down to a English Bulldog, or a Boxer, but the Boxer won because everyone here thinks their Bulldogs are pick of the litter, and want a small fortune for them, and they have more health issues, and require special attention every day because of their skin folds. Boxers...they are smart, easy to train, loyal, and great guard dogs. They pretty much take care of themselves once you show them the way.
When we got her her dewclaws were already done, and her tail was already cropped. I decided not to do her ears for a couple of reasons, the two biggest ones were 1. she looks pretty the way she is, and 2. I didn't want to put her through that operation, and long recovery.
Oh ya, shes spoiled rotten! She gets to go to work with me every day, and ride in the truck. At night, she sleeps anywhere she wants to, sometimes even in between mommy and daddy. Gets treats all the time, cause she is good and listens. Shes a indoor dog, she has never had to sleep out side once since I have had her.
I find it most impressive that I dont have a fenced in yard, and I can let her out to go potty, and she will go out do her thing, and she will come back to the front door to be let back in. Most ever other boxer owner I have talked to, say the same, "the door goes open, poof, they are gone", not her, and I really-really do thank her for that.
