Possibly Grand Prix Delete Mod. Opinions.



if we only get a few inches, i would of traded by now, but we can alot of snow here, like by the foot. i think last year or two years ago we got 3.5 feet of snow in one night. a trans am isnt going to make it through that.
 


Well considering Grand Prix are a dime a dozen and he's willing to trade do it...it's not like you can't buy another Grand Prix for 2k down the road.
 
Not a bad T/A. Little on the high side for a LT car, but not terrible. Optispark sucks but can be remedied. Slap some longtubes on it, cam it, SLP and call it done. It will suck in the snow. Used to drive a 94 Formula w/ the LT1 and wouldn't dream of getting it out in anything other than a dusting. Just not worth it. Got decent fuel mileage if you laid off it. The 4L60e wasn't terrible. Probably no worse than the 4T65e in the GP's.

I will ask this, why the hell can't anyone drive a RWD car in the snow? What's so terrible about that? I grew up driving a full size rwd car and never once had an issue w/ snow using the proper tires. I hate fwd in the snow. I don't like to loose steering and movement at the same time. If the back end swings out on my rwd, then I just ease out of it and turn that direction and boom, right back straight. Oh, and donuts in the snow FTMFW

who cares if its a v8 its still an LT1 automatic..

not saying a FWD auto 3.8 is so much better but if you want a v8 save your money and but something nice

GTP is a way better DD then a RWD v8
 
I drove around my uncles car for awhile, was a rwd 88 i roc z28. The key to winter driving is blizzaks, and about 100-200 pounds of sandbags on the rear axle.

Big help also is just don't drive reckless in snow :p any car is fine in snow as long as you don't drive nutty.

Now to my opinion on the trade... My GP is in rougher shape then yours and probably a lot slower and worth a lot less. I would trade my car for a T/A or Camaro any day and just accept I will have to drive in snow. But with your car as it is, likely faster and worth more, if you sold your GP and make $10/hour you can afford any car you want from 10-15k on a loan. Especially if you don't have any other monthly payments.

All in all, I would do it. But if I made your money i would opt for something much nicer.
 
Sell your car, buy mine like you've been wanting to and like we talked about. My car spanks the **** out of those LT1's, you know this. And can be driven in the winter.
 


2 words: snow tires. The GPs arent that high off the ground so its easy to get high centered in deep snow, FWD wont help that much. Get some snow tires on the rear at least and put some sandbags in and go at it.
 
or snow chains lol my dad has a set for his dodge dokota its a 2wd stick 6 cyl they work good in the snow as long as they dont fly off and **** up your paint
 


i would honestly be able to drive this lt1 rwd v8 in the winter just by getting some snow tires? winters here can get pretty bad at times, ive gone into a ditch once already with all my old grand prix.
 
put chains on it and put stuff in the trunk, personally id keep your car i think its nicer then that LT1 and you just bought alot of stuff for it just my opinion though
