Is it possible to run a hid light with stock headlight housings? If not, what is recommended. Disregard if repost,however, i did look but couldnt find what i was looking for. Thanks.
 


I run HID's in the stock housing, no problem, no blinding people. Do a search, there is a mod you can do to the light socket that'll sit it back approx. 3/4" and place the lamp properly in the headlight so it throws the light just as the stock bulb does. If you don't do the mod, then just get the single lamp (no high beam), because then it doesn't matter.
 
I'll have to do the mod...I need high beams where I live because of dark roads and many evil creatures they call deer. I actually hit one at work last night in my crown Vic.
 
Coolone, if its that thread i remember all the pictures are dead unfortunately which leaves you blind on what to actually do. From experience I hate my Bi-Xenon bulbs and will never reccomend them, they bounce because the fitment is poor, they don't always want to telescope in and out.

I have the pics, it was not my thread but I saved the pics, will try to post them up later. Basically, you want the part of the filament that lights/burns to be inserted the same depth into the headlight housings. The original write up showed how to drill 2 or 3 small holes in the housing where the lamp twists in, using small Allen type screws to lock the lamp in at the correct depth. It's simple really...

As to the Bi-xenon, I'm using them, there's no bounce that I see. I think the bounce was people using aftermarket headlamp housings. If getting new housings, try to keep & use the stock bracket, seems it's a little more sturdy. Get the HID kit from the Retrofit Source, imo the extra $ is worth it, it's all top notch stuff. Kit was $120 I think, all still running wonderfully 18 months later, took an hour to install. Don't forget to check the wiring, depending on year, etc., you may have to swap wires (at connector)...

Thats why you got a TRS kit i got a chep ebay kit (vvme). The bulb doesn't sit snug in its retaining collar. Im using stock brackets too, they never bounced with the halogens.

Does that basically just modify the retaining collar thing the bulb twists into so it sits back more? Other thing i question is do those bulbs just tilt or do they telescope back and forth? Seems simple enough tho.
