ported manifolds

i plan on getting headers in the future but right now i have a set of ported manifolds. will they give anything noticable in terms of reducing kr. i have a 3" dp, 104's, fwi, 180*tstat and always 93 at the pump. i wanna put a 3.4 mps on this wkend so hopfuly my scanner comes in.
 


In my experience the biggest restriction on the stock manifolds is the front manifold where it bends and restricts. You can't port it in that area and therefore.. a set of ported manis don't fix the issue.

Personally having done ported Em's in the past. I wouldn't do it again. I'd go straight to plog or headers.
 
i don't like the log style manifolds, even if they are better than stock.

how it is that hard to reproduce the stock bends and shape, with better diameter piping?
 
they're tubular, how can the bends be bad?

make a plog...but make the bends pretty, kinda like how stock LOOKS.
 


I got a ported front manifold sitting in my garage that I got for free. Was wanting to put it on soon and hope I don't brake any studs. However, after reading this I might not bother, if it doesn't really do anything.
 
Mine were Both free kinda bummed the general consensus is nothing. Well it can't hurt it. I will just try it with the stock ones scan and make a pass at the local strip see what's going and then try the ported ones and repeat.
 
The obstructions in the manifold are in the primaries where they join...not the inlet that touches the cylinder head.

You can't really port that without cutting up the manifold and rewelding everything.

Would it hurt?

No.

Is it worth it?

Probably not.

I had a wrapped x-over...and I ported my front/rear manifolds at the same time I did a 3" DP.

I noticed a difference but it was probably all in the downpipe.
