im putting this thread here to get more notice for the time being. I was hoping someone here has before P&P there own blower in and out. so if anyone one could, i would like it if someone would do a how to write on it. If possible, make it in depth. Thanks
 


Ive done it, but I have not done a write up on it. Its not difficult though really. There are literally hundreds of pics floating around in which you can use as a guide. The intake side I think is the hardest because the way it is made. I ended up buying a die grinder with a 3" extension on it so I could get way up in there. But I basically just smoothed it out (there was a lip on the intake where the TB mounts) and took out the lip so there would be little obstruction to the air flow.

I plan also taking out the divot as well, I'll just use some quick steel for that and smooth it out but Im also doing some other work further up in the intake as well thats kinda hard to describe.

On the outlet side Im going to close up the side slits on it and actual outlet you basically are just enlarging though maintaining the overall shape is a goal here. I'll see if I can dig up some pics that may help out, but if you search or google for ported M90 pics you should come up with plenty to give you an idea.
 
alright thanks alot, im getting another genIII hopfully and i plan on porting it and then porting mine and selling it. so any help would be great.

As far as i'm aware the only purpose of those slits is to reduce whine. I was considering doing this but kind of nervous something will chip off and cause a serious problem.

I was suggested to use aluminum epoxy, has anyone done this and has experience first hand?
 
Ive seen it done with epoxy (but I dont know how it worked out long term though) and Ive seen them welded shut too. And it should make the whine louder as well.
 
i used aluminum epoxy on mine. its sitting at home waiting for me to finish it up. i need to smooth the underside of the outlet that still has epoxy from sealing the slits and i need to take a flapper wheel to the inlet to smooth out the divot that i filled in. i dont plan on making the inlet any bigger since i just have a stock ported TB.

ill snap some pictures of it when i get home to show you what ive done. ill also snap a picture of the epoxy i got from napa.
 


ya plus the body damage i have now! oh i want a xp cam not rockers haha. i found out that the guy before me actually wreaked the right rear, thanks to me taking the bumper off i almost died!
 


hey bio how long have you had that epoxy in there? i like the idea but i dont have a welder and i dont want epoxy shaving in my engine
 
its not even on my car yet. i bought a case to port on the side and have been working on it in my spare time. it will be on within a couple weeks i would assume, but i have to figure out if i want to rebuild the m90 or not. i got some **** in the needle bearing holes because i didnt tape them before i started working on it. i dont think it will be a problem, the epoxy is literally rock hard. i think if i wanted to take it out id have a hell of a time doing it. and besides, the LIM is always pressurized making the force on the slits an upward force. the case is beveled towards the upper part so i dont think they are going anywhere.

J-B Weld epoxy adhesive is some pretty strong stuff. I was amazed when I first heard this, and thought no way will I ever do this, and still I don't think I ever would, but the company has used it's product to repair cracked blocks. Some automotive engineers, specifically the BMW industry I believe, have tested on their steel cracked blocks and the car ran fine for thousands of miles with no issues.

That's quality stuff right there.

Personally I used J-B Weld epoxy when I made a Potato Launcher out of PVC piping. I used a spark plug to ignite the fuel in the cannon. Well I J-B Welded the spark plug to the bottom opening of the cannon, metal to plastic, where we spray the hairspray into. I tried pulling it off and the thing wouldn't budge. It's stuck on there for good.

2 years ago where I worked one of the maintenance guys had to paint the floor in the basement level of the building. He forgot to mix in the epoxy, haha. The next morning, I'm always the first one in the building, when I walked to the basement to goto the locker room, the floor was real shiny and wet. The paint would never dry without the epoxy adhesive. It was one hell of a mess to clean up which took the whole day because it doesn't come up easy, at least that paint didn't.

like i said before, this stuff is hard as rock. i dont think its going anywhere soon. im going to be running it non intercooled with meth, so the worst of all cases probably.
