I have three codes: 0245 wheel speed sensor,2. P0128 coolant temp below normal. 3 .P1811 maximum adapt and long shift.
Please advise on what could be wrong
 


245: Wheel speed sensor is failed or wires are frayed/torn.
new wheel hub mostlikely

128: New 195* thermostat

1811:
New PCS(pressure control solenoid in transmission) or trans needs rebuilt.

Most likely causes listed above, of course, many other things can affect these
 
Wheel hub, i would say roughly 200-250, thermostat, give or take, 100-150, and the trans solenoid, thats a longshot for me, this is all SHOP costs, if you do yourself, the hub, and thermostat would run you mabey 150$, matters brand, and where you buy. I buy most my stuff on ebay, its cheapest, and i am patient to wait in mail, if you go to napa, orielleys(wouldnt recremend), autozone, they are going to charge about 30% more, in my opinion, im sure others will have a say, but thats my best bet on this.
 
Thanks a mobile mechanic just quoted 270 to 300 to replace thermostat and coolant, and new wheel hub. he says replacing the thermostat and resetting light will fix problem.
 


The max adapt shift code can be fixed with a shift kit in the transmission, it's a pretty common issue to have.

It will likely only be a part time fix, but should still last a long time before the rest of the transmission itself wears out.
 


Thermostat takes 5 mins.

Shift kit is a little more involved, but it is the fix for the P1811. Worked for me and for countless others.
 
Check the power steering fluid level. Note that there are hot and cold full lines.

If the fluid is fine, you could consider a fluid flush or replace the pump but both are probably unnecessary. Many 3800 platform cars have some sort of whine from the power steering pump even when it is functioning properly.

The thermostat has been replaced. I added power steering fluid today. It was a low. There are lines if the weather is hot and lines if the weather is cold.
Is that what you mean by cold and hot full lines?
 


On my '08 there is a line with "COLD" and a line with "HOT" next to it - I assumed it was if the fluid was hot or cold not the weather. I could be wrong.
 
Those lines are for cold (fluid is at ambient air temp) and hot is after the drivetrain is up to operating temperature.

Antifreeze should be checked for it's freezing point, and oil viscosity (ability to flow at or below 10 degrees) are about the only weather related fluids.
 
I took my 2005 Grand Prix (109k miles to three different locations to check my power steering pump. I noticed that it was low and when I turned the steering wheel I heard a whining sound. Here are the responses from three different mechanics

1. Chain store that repairs cars and sells tires: You have a leaking pump, hose and steering gear. total cost to repair 1600.00
2. Autonation Chevrolet dealership service dept: You have a leaking pump, hose and steering gear. total cost to repair 1300.00
3. GMC Buick Dealership Service Dept: You have an aftermarket power steering pump. Your reservior is too full and overflowing.
Your hose, pump and steering gear are not leaking.
