i have a 2000 pontiac grand prix gtp supercharged 3.8 with a 4 speed auto transmission. recently i started having issues with the car not shifting into 4th gear then when it does it repeatedly shifts back and forth from 3rd to 4th. finally it posted engine codes po716 and po717. i replaced the vss that is found by the passenger side tire and it did not fix the problem i then purchased this sensor.BWD Sensor - Vehicle Speed Part No. S8206. Now i cant find where this sensor goes on the car. anybody with any ideas please help me.
 


Both of the codes you found are for the Input Speed Sensor ( ISS ) and this can only be accessed by dropping down the transmission and removing the side cover. Most of the time the sensor itself is not the problem and the reluctor wheel is damaged and doesnt spin which causes a loss of signal. Replacing the reluctor wheel involves removing the pump, valve body, and channel plate inside the transmission to gain access to the reluctor wheel.
