po341 cam sensor circuit code

TorqueAutoMotiv

donated to get this wow
Got it all buttoned up fired her up was filling it with water and a po341 code poped up Just curious if this could be simple or a common problem
I have the gm diagnostic walkthrough but im sure others on here have encountered this....

I have no clue drove it home today after replacing the cam position sensor and its real rough and shaky and the po341 code popped up again looks like a fun weekend and i dont have all the schools toys to diag with

Looking for opinions here
I was reading about the code and it says the computer will take over for the cam position sensor but its a 1 in 6 chance it works right so does this mean if i restart the car 6 times i should get it to run right at least once right???

Ya im working off si2000 the gm site but its a long chart to follow and unless im getting paid i get lazy lol I just need it to run good enough to get to my buddys shop and thats like 20 miles away Ive tested the coil packs and wires i guess im pulling the pcm and icm tomorow
I put a new can sensor in it last thurs so im pretty sure its a conection issue or short to ground

The car will run perfectly normal with this code. So your running is probably something else...check vacuum as it's usually the issue.

Being a new motor, and new timing gears.. Did you swap the cam gear magnet onto the new gear? If you had helpers and are unsure you can take out the cam sensor and stick a finger in to feel for it while someone slowly turns the motor by hand. If you suspect the wiring, it's pretty quick and easy to swap. I have 4-5 spares laying around. Holler.

I put the magnet in right before i put on the front cover and we put in a new sensor what it was saying is the computer will take over for the sensor but its a 1 in 6 chance and ive actually seen what it means one time i started it it ran smooth a couple more time it was rough
All the vacuum is good i had it hooked up to my laptop and its only showing the cam code
and map looks good and all readable sensors look fine engne vacuum was fine as well

I just dislike the electrical side of things testing and so on

Just throwing it out there. Check the ground for the ICM. It will make your car run like **** if it is not goo.

Thats the only ground on that part of the harness right? if so I have it hooked up even changed spots for it

My one thought is that the head where its grounded to may be a bad ground due to the gaskets and the sealant on the head bolts

Either way cars going into a buddys shop on monday he will help me diagnose and then ill fix it my self

i knocked my cam interupt out of place installing the front cover the first time. it's not hard really, all i did was bump it

take the sensor out, get a mirror/flashlight and slowly rotate the motor until you can visually verify that it's still there. mine was there, but i bent the tabs and it got pushed back

check the harness wires where they run behind the waterpump pulley. it's also common for the pulley to chew through those wires if the harness is not routed correctly
