Ok so im getting really frustrated. I have an 05 gtp with a 3.6 pulley setup and am currently running al104's but i really dont want ot have to change them every few months. I want something that will last longer. Is there an ngk iridium that will perform just the same at the same heat range? or something? idk help plz.
 


Autolite XP104 Iridium spark plugs.
"They take less ignition voltage to fire and have a 25% larger flame kernal than the stock plug. The also have a platinum button on the side wire to prevent gap erosion. They have a 100k life span as well."
 
just because he said it doesnt mean its right. anyone not running copper plugs on their modded car is doing it wrong.
 


FWIW, I saw between 1-2 degrees more KR on NGK's Vs the copper, and had more idle misfires

Stock..........41-921
1 colder.......41-932
1-1/2 colder..41-919
2 colder.......41-913

The 41-913's would be the same heat range as the AL104's
 
How much driving are you doing??

I put about 12,000miles on my Copper 104's with a single problem. Went to swap em out, still looked good. Worn, but good.
 


I do alot of driving it is my daily driver. i baught the car june 27th of 2009 with 68,000 miles and today it has 98,000 miles. I also like to race it on occasion in the summer and fall.
 
Well, I put on about 20k a year...and only swap the 104's out twice a year.
I'd much rather spend $12 on plugs, and spend 10minutes swapping them, than running hotter plugs.

Plus...c'mon they are 12 bucks...and pretty damn easy to do too.
As long as you can measure KR, feel free to run a different plug.
The 104's and 103's are proven, great plugs.
 
AL104's are you best option or the NGK tr7's which will last longer. just change them when they need changed, I mean it takes 10min. There was just 3 poped piston threads in here in the last 3 months from people running Platinum plugs or to hot a plug..........
 
The stock heat range AC Delco Iridium is 41-101. Does anyone know the numbers of the colder plugs?

Iridium Plugs 2 ranges colder than stock:
Autolite XP104 Iridium
NGK TR7IX Iridium
 
I don't know that there's iridium plugs in a colder heat range but if you scroll up I posted AC Delco platinum plugs that are colder heat range.
 


Yeah, I read gud. Can't think of a single soul that cares about platinum plugs, though. As far as I've read, folks either want copper or iridium.
 
Iridium has a smaller tip which gets hotter and promotes pre-detonation ;) People hate bosch platinums, but AC delco platinums were actually a factory plug for the grand prix's before the iridium were used
 
....so? no one tried to claim your 'friend' was smart. copper plugs are always the way to go in a performance application.
