Please help me identify this trans...

When I bought my '98 GTP, it came with an extra transmission that was advertised as a 2007 Buick LaCrosse trans with 3.29 gears. I assume that this trans is different than the 4T65E-HD that came in the '97-'03 Grand Prix, correct?

The trans was bought from Ed Morad, and I was told that the trans would work in a '97-'03 GP as long as you use a 2003 PCM (which I have). Is this correct? Also, how much is this trans worth? It has less than 10k miles on it.

Thanks in advance

There's several things you'll have to modify. You'll have to use your external range selector switch on the current trans. You'll also have to swap the cooler line fittings if you're going to use the cooler lines on your car, if the cooler lines are ok that are pictured with the trans than you'll be fine. You'll also need the tune for 3.29 gears, and to swap your HD diff from the current trans to this one with the cover.

The only problem I have with any of this is that the #24226969 doesn't cross at all in my GM catalog. And I show that the 06-08 LaCrosses' have 3 tranny options allowing for 2.93R (FR2), 3.69R (FR3), & 3.05R (F83). None show to use a 3.29 gear ratio.
I'm a simple GM Parts guy, but something doesn't add up in my computer.

The casting numbers are pretty useless on these transmissions unless replacing individual parts that were damaged- such as the case. The ID tag on the back side of the transmission has the build code of what it is for and what gear ratio it has.

HAHA god that went through alot of turns

the GM# 24231004 (at the bottom of the plate under USA)
was discontinued and changed for service to 17803713

which was then changed to 17803895 which shows for a 2007 Lacrosse

3.8-2 (L26), 4-SPD AUTO TRANS (M15), 3.05R (F83)

meaning its a 3.05 ratio tranny

Awesome stuff guys, I appreciate the responses. I would've hated to sell a trans that wasn't as I had advertised.

So, anyone want this thing? I'll sell it CHEAP :)
