Please Help determine these lines

Hi im new to the forum I have been smelling gas fumes in the car everytime i turn the heat on since this morning. I opened the hood to determine the problem, and found what look like cut lines which scares the hell out of me i have had the car for about a month and had no problems until now with drivability.

Not sure why they did that... might have had a leak and took the easy way out.. I'm guessing you have no ABS.

As for the heat issues, the smell might be from an EGR leak or something, no codes?

no codes of any kind just a gas smell whenever the fans on so i know its coming from the engine bay. Thanks for the replies guys had me really freaked out with those lines cut. makes sense because the brakes work not good i dont have abs though. I will check the egr, and take a better look at it tomorrow in the light

well yea, just no abs, but some people don't like it anyways.. You can probably just replace that little piece of line and it will be fixed, or they clamped it for other reasons like the abs doesn't work anyways or something.

Others would know more about the gas smell, but I think it could be EGR leaks.

the fuel lines on the motor might be leaking. if you push them in and they drip then you need to replace the oring in them or replace them.

See the big lines in your picture? pull the loom off them, those are the fuel lines ...and they look wet. As for the bypassed brake lines, I'd say someone didn't want to fight the plastic line holder and ran the new lines past it. Likely everything is fine and you have some newer brakes lines to replace some that rusted or twisted during a repair.

Thanks I will check those lines for sure. Its hard to tell what lines are wet and what ones are not because I had the car oil sprayed right after I got the car since we get alot of snow/salt here. I hope they just ran some new lines would be alot better than just cutting off my ABS :s

They just ran new lines, you cant bypass the abs module by running lines out of it. As far as your fuel smell, check the vac line that hooks up to the fuel pressure regulator, and the quick connects that attach the nylon hoses to the rail.
