• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

please give me a good reason!!

raregm makes a point lol

today i went into the parts store to pick up new headlights for the GTO and the person behind the counter was an attractive girl, and she seemed to know what was up, well i noticed she had a old school indian head tattoo poking out from under her sleeve. i asked about it, and she explained she had a 96 LT/6M firebird that she auto-Xs, she told me everything about it and why she got the tattoo, she knew about cars and that impressed the hell out of me.

And you're on a forum instead of having drinks with her because... :p

i prefer to deal with men in business situations, i can yell at men. wont yell at a woman, meaning ill never get what i want.

I have a good friend who is a younger woman and I helped to convince her to get a job at AutoZone while she was finishing school. Why not I said, she knew more than most guys about cars and the little stuff she wasn't up to speed on, would be learned.

It's a stereotype and one that you can change by knowing your stuff and helping the retard trying to buy the part.

Most people in general don't know crap about cars. That's the truth.

^^^ thats the whole reason i got my prix is so i can learn about cars and learn how to work on them and let me tell ya ive learned alot

The post about the East Indian storming out of the store after finding the woman was the manager shows another issue. Culture from other countries primarily India and the Middle East still think the woman shouldn't even be out of the house, let alone talking about cars. Make me a sandwich is an understatement for them.

My experience with girls and cars, mechanics, hardware, and the like. I'll give them a chance, but after talking with them a few seconds, it almost always shows they don't know anything about it. There was one exception at Pepboys. I was trying to find locking lug nuts for the GTP. I didn't want to buy the tuner lugs that every store sold with hardly any contact surface to the wheel. Nobody knew what I was talking about till her. Right off the bat she said conical seat. When a girl knows about terms such as that, you know she knows her stuff. She wasn't bad looking either so she probably did alright. I'll still give girls a chance, as you never know, you might learn something.

Rare GM's post was really long. Took me about as long to read as normally reading all the posts on 1 page, lol.

Also, for GTGirl. If you're trying to get a job at a shop again. While you're at Advance, I'm sure you have to deal with the commercial accounts for shops sometimes so just let them know you know what your talking about and your experience once you get talking. Might get lucky.

Now to find a woman that knows her cars, hunts, and still knows how to make something other than tv diners and frozen pizzas...... :(

no offense but every woman in a parts store I've been in has been next to worthless when it comes to helping me find what I need but I wouldn't say their all that way, and I would also point out that most the men working in parts stores have been next to worthless in helping me lol

Same here especially the girl with the 8 different colored hair that sold me the wrong clamps at Advance and swore she knew what she was talking about. Then bought a tranny from some girl in PA who had her nails done and helped us put the tranny in the backseat I'm wondering if she was more concerned with breaking a nail because she barely lifted it :th_laugh-lol2:.

+One

Lots of stuff

Didn't want to quote the whole thing so I snipped it. LOL

It's funny when I was reading your description about people's perception of you. I get the same thing all the time. People assume I am some clean living, church going, always quiet, non chalant guy.

People freak out when they find out I have tattoos, or the fact that I drink. I remember the one time I took my car to get it aligned and I was dressed fairly nice, had just gotten a haircut and shaved. The alignment specialist thought he was going to take me for being car dumb and tried to tell me I needed all this stuff replaced or he couldn't do the alignment, and he couldn't let me leave with the car in the condition it was in because it was unsafe.

Little did he know I had just replaced a bunch of suspension components (part of the reason I was getting it aligned) and I had the receipts to prove it. When I got done ripping into him I told him to get my car off the rack because I wasn't letting them have my business.

I think that I myself am guilty at times of being overly perceptive. Its ingrained in human nature to have certain perceptions of certain people. All one can do is to prove the perception wrong about themself.

I purposely talk to the girl at my local auto parts store.. I love working and talking about cars.. And I love hitting on girls!! Best of both worlds.. If I go to get parts.. I already know what I need and if they hand me the wrong part.. Just give me more reason to hit on her.. :)
