Plastic runners in the upper intake

Hey all I know its been forever since I posted anything but I'm curious do I really need to keep those plastic runners in the UIM cause I'd like to remove them but I don't have enough $$ to buy a HV3 insert. Any thoughts? Thanks

Yup.

DIY HV3.

Removing them gave a more low end gain for the butt dyno when I did that and hacked out the huge chuck of plastic in the middle of the opening of the manifold behind the TB.

Sacrificed high end powerband, because the air is just a mess in there at high RPM's with no sort of flow pattern to follow. I'd suggest an HV3 if you can find one used though. Between that and a 3" downpipe (or at the least a u-bend delete and running 91 octane in the car) it'll get rid of all the knock and help the car out quite a bit.
