Plastic Intake Manifold

I have an 05 GTP with the dreaded Intake leak. I was told by a mechanic some 3.8's have plastic intakes that can warp or crack. Is this true for Supercharged 3.8's as well?

If the mechanic you went to told you that your intake may be plastic after you told him it was an s/c 3.8 don't let him touch your car.

Ehhh I bought a 2006.

new guy.. easy way to tell. See where the top radiator hose connects to the engine. To the left and a little closer to the front is where the lower intake meets the head. Right by the valve cover. If you see black in there, you want them replaced. If you see aluminum, you should be good.

my 04 had plastic gaskets but my 06 had metal, from what i hear it was in fact mid 05 when they changed it

I guess I'll find out tomorrow when it comes apart. I hope it just needs the gaskets at this point. It's completely stock with about 130K on it.

seriously man, if you are in fact supercharged then theres not much more you would need other then lower intake gaskets... maybe coolant elbows but they are cheap

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Turns out it has an aluminum Intake and the elbows were the only leak. I replaced the entire tensioned and the new elbows.
