plastic elbow replacement

Well you could try JB weld but just as a temp fix. and regarding the temp. guage riding up and down, my 99 gt was doing that because of a bad thermostat I sug. you change that out also.

can you take a pic of this metal piece. we can at least tell you what you are looking for. if the elbows werent leaking and that piece just snapped off, i bet thats where the coolant was leaking from in the first place.

FWIW almost any time you touch the tensioner those elbows will crack and you might not no till you put it back together. its a good idea to always have an extra pair in the tool box just incase.

yea i will try and get pictures its in a little bit so might be hard. So when i change the belt i should replace them again? only issue im having is i could not find the rear plastic elbo i looked everywhere for it

so temp thermostat should i get? my car only has intake and soon exhaust. So its not normal for temp gauge to be reading around 160?

Ok..did you break the metal elbow off the tensioner or did you break the casing of the piece it goes into...aka the timing cover?

It's either tensioner or timing cover.

where is coolant temp sensor and no i didnt bleed it should i? would that cause the weird readings? my heater and everything gets hot so it should be up to temp. how do you bleed the system

it most definitely will cause weird readings, especially floating.

there is a brass valve on top of the inlet going into the LIM on the driver side, just follow the hose from radiator. with the engine on, running, and hot OR start cold i'm not sure either way let it get hot, open that bleeder valve and you should hear air come out or you may not depending on the pressure and air. and just leave it open and running until coolant comes out, then close it off, and consider yourself bled. then see how your temp does.

well i would try a coolant temp sensor then. i mean, so long as the car heats up and cools off, doesnt over heat, u still got heat and a/c, then let it read the way it wants. in my first 3800 in the GT, it ran perfect temps, the replacement motor with same thermostat ran lower. idk why but it did. soo like i said probably just the sensor bein cheap and faulty lol

yea and the low coolant light comes on and off but its not using up coolant it stays at the same level. so its not losing coolant and everything is full.

the engine needs to heat up so the thermostat opens and lets more coolant through. leave the radiator cap off and it will "burp" air out and then you add more coolant until theres pretty much no more burps. then put some in the reservoir. i dont think my reservoir works well to be honest.

coolant temp sensor is right below the thermostat, its a brass sensor. use some teflon sealant on the threads when you put the new one in. and the cross over can make it a pain to get in and out.

your mixing coolant with water right?

my engine temps stay pretty low this time of year since its cold out. they stay around 173 all the time. without coolant it would get much hotter...
