Plasti gauge/torque specs

So tonight im going to be plastigauging. What i need to know is the proper oil clearance for our engine? Rods and mains. Also i need the torque specks for the main cap bolts (tops and sides) and also the rod bolts. i have a hanes manual but that has to have been the absolute biggest waste of money ever. its useless. i cant find anything in there. Thanks for any help.

The Connecting Rod Bearing Clearance is supposeto be 0.019–0.065 mm
(0.0008–0.0026 in.)

The Wear Limit on it is suppose to be 0.074 mm
(0.003 in.)

Crankshaft Main Bearing Cap Bolt 40 + 110Nm (30 + 110ft. lbs.)

Crankshaft Main Bearing Cap Bolt (Side) 15 + 45Nm (11 + 45ft. lbs.)

The Main Bearing Clearance is suppose to be Diametrical 0.025–0.101 mm
(0.001–0.004 in.)

The Bearing Clearance (Max. allowable) is 0.127 mm
(0.005 in.)

Hope that help a little. :)

Please remember that there is a proper torque sequence for the main caps as well. These engines are very sensitive to this, so it MUST be done correctly.

Thanks parker that will be of great help. Just wanna make sure im reading these right. So for the top bolts on the mains its 110 ftlbs + 30 degrees? Also whats the rod spec? i did know it but cant seem to remember today. reptile where can i find the sequence at?

Ask and you shall receive.

Tighten the crankshaft main bearing cap bolts in equal increments. Do not completely tighten one bolt at a time to prevent the cap from being cocked.

* Tighten the bolts to 70 N·m (52 lb ft) to fully seat the crankshaft main bearing caps. Loosen the bolts 360 degrees counterclockwise.

* Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft), then 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

* Use J 36660-A to tighten the bolts in steps: 35 degrees + 35 degrees + 40 degrees for a total of 110 degrees.

Install the side main bolts. Apply GM P/N United States 12345493, GM P/N Canada 10953488 or the equivalent to the side main bolts.

Tighten the side crankshaft main bearing cap bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft). Use J 36660-A to tighten the bolts an additional 45 degrees.

thanks reptile an i just might do that 01gtp. is it 25 for every car and or yearly or is it 25 once an u can look at anything forever?

Plasti gauge is just a quality check thing... you should really measure all your journals on the crank then rods and get your oil clearances there... it is more accurate to do it that way. I will say i have used plasti gauge before but it can be very sensitive to minor things.

the key to life is to know people..... lol my dads buddy who is a master tech for ford got the book for us from his friend but duh he wants it back when were done ha.
