Plasti dip?

I say if you want to dip them OP do it, but Bio is right in saying that it is the cheap way out. Save if you can and buy some new wheels. You will thank youself when you do.

Plus, I like to "pick" on Bio for his hate of plasti-dip.

You can always throw some nicer paint and clear on top of the plasti-dip. Plasti-dip is a fad that should die any day now.

actually, if you look at the instructional videos it tells you 100% not to paint over the plasti-dip with regular paint because it becomes a huge burden to take it off after you do that. they make 'top coats' for it, though.

Can't say I ever watched an instructional video for it, but I'd imagine a few coats of the stuff would make it easier to peel with other paint on top of it. Spending money on something that looks like cheap ass that you're just going to peel off is a burden in itself.

i think it turned out pretty good! I like em! What bout you guys?

I plasti dipped my stock GT rims last spring, and i still love them! they show dirt really easily though.. paint them all black though.. a red lip would only look good if you have red calipers too, and some other red accent on the car. i have dark blue calipers and blue front grill, other wise EVERYTHING is blacked out. people always compliment me still.

I painted my rims, the prep is killing my back, but worth it.

I know they are not Tri bars/ snow flakes but you get the Idea

Primer x2 , Graphite/ Gunmetal x3, Clear Coat x2

Take your time and you can do it. Before (unclean) Prep (sanding) After (painted)

If you are plasti dipping your wheels all you do is wash em good and spray plasti dip about 4 coats and let dry for a day or so

all products are from plastidip? (prime) (clear coat)

Oops, sorry no that is actual rim specific paint from Dupli color, I was basically showing that if you want better results and want to keep stock rims, that a refinish might be better than plasti-dip. Just saying it can be done.

so if i want to keep my stock rims i'd should put a primer on them first before the dip? sounds wrong..

Sorry for the confusion. I used NO plasti-dip. I used Wheel Coating Spray Paint.

Like Matt said, to use plasti-dip clean wheels good and spray them, then let dry.

The point to plasti dip is to be cheap simple and reversible. All you use is soap water and somethkng to scrub with. Dry the wheel and spray

i'm looking for a reversible way as of right now.. if i really like the black i probably will go with getting new black wheels.
