Pipe smokers

So recently during my trips out to sea I've gotten into smoking a pipe. I got me a cheap starting kit but before deployment wanna get some good stuff.
Corn cob pipe heard their good
Dunno what kind of tobacco yet. And a humidor for storage of cigars and all until needed. I'm not a heavy smoker but enjoy a good cigar.

I used to smoke a pipe constanly. I went with a corn cob and just started with that criss cross leaf tobacco. I also enjoy cigars and smoked many of those. I like the pipe better it's realistically cheaper. But a cigar is more enjoyable for me idk why. But hit up your local cigar shop or puffn stuff

I tried the corn cob pipe smoking thing for a while. I never could seem to keep the damn thing lit.

If I'm going to have a long smoke session, I prefer smoking from a hookah.

Yea but hookah is banned on base along with Anything that is used with it. Plus the trick to keeping them lighted it to keep matches ready. There's nothing wrong with it if it goes out. Just relight it

That's weird that they are banned on your base, and really unfortunate. I bought my first hookah on base when I was deployed.

Thats lame. I've tried herbs out of mine and wasn't a fan. They make rocks now that are coated in molases so you have zero tobacco. Its different, but its not terrible.

Anyway, kind of back on topic, I used to have a neighbor that pipe smoked all the time, and he could keep it lit for hours at a time, I'm still not sure how. I think pipe quality might be part of it, because he had a very nice wood pipe that he used daily.

Yea that probably is it. I'm not getting an expensive one this time...hence a corn cob one. There's a good tobacco place here with a large selection...so I'll see

Ive got a corncob but it tends to burn rather hot, but that's probably cause my tobacco is too dry as i refuse to put it in my humidor with my cigars ha. For the occasional smoke it works great but if its gonna be more than that I'd suggest a cheap briar one. Not to mention once you get a nice cake it tastes better too ;). Just my two cents

Its basically what you think of when you think of a wood pipe. You can generally find em for anywhere from $10-$40. Little bit more than a corncob pipe but in the long run I'd say its worth it.

I got my corn cob pipe from Cracker Barrel when I was a kid and didn't know what it was actually for lol. But eventually I figured it out and the only thing that's was wrong with it is I cracked the tip so that needed replaced but you can get those anywhere. I've never tried hookah and also never had any issue keeping my pipe lit. Some of my friends did because they would pack them wayyy to tight and because it doesn't get any airflow it goes out. Smoking a pipe is definetly enjoyable I also smoked by lighting it with a zippo and you can draw the flame down in and not worry about wasting tons of matches you can do the same with like bic lighters too in a pinch

I picked it up for a little while but quite when I started. The trick to keeping the tobacco lit is in the packing. Do it in like 3 layers without going to hard on the. I got to where mine would stay lit the whole time time
