Just making a quick post, with pics of the headlight restore, I did last week. Next on the list is, debage. Then it is time to paint my facias (back facias is painted white, want it the same greyish color as the front facias). :D

I also did my fogs lights, the next day after this picture was taken. :)

Note: my hood is not off on the passenger side, I have a dented fender, which is making the fender stick up more.

Off topic but, is a 12oz can of paint enough to do one facias or should I order 16oz? I am going to order everything in the next 2 weeks, base, primer, sand paper, tape, bonding and clear coat, I do not want to run out of paint.

I would clear or wax the headlights or else they will fade again even quicker, but looks good

Thank you, by clear, you mean spray clear coat on it?

Good job on the headlights. Which kit did you use?

Your going to paint your facias black, right?

Thank you,

I plan on painting my facias: Dark Argent WA6246

1 can of plastidip.

Where do I get that, Autozone? I might have some duplicolor clear coat.

You can clear coat them w/ a rattle can buy be aware it may come out blotchy.

Better to have a bodyshop spray clear them for you. Price depends on area etc call around

If you haven't already put something on it to protect it..chances are their going to look like crap right away.

You could just wax them often but a better option is to use a sealant (last a few months compared to weeks or days that wax tends to last) autozone etc has paint sealant you pick your poison.

Plasti dip..autozone, Oreileys etc..do your homework on there website and find out who has it in stock.

Better option would be to use actually paint...krylon fusion, engine enamel or body shop paint. Pick your poison .

Just because I don't want to post my whole picture listing when I did mine. I will just leave the link to my PhotoBucket folder

Took a whole Saturday and wet sanded the spots and nastiness out of them. Its been a year and a half with decent waxing and they are finally starting to haze over a little again. Might try to re-sand them at 1500 - 2000 wet and then polish back out. I started at 600 wet, to 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, & stopped at 2000 then polished and you have the final results in the link.

No clear on mine, ever. Just polish and wax after wet sanding.

Try a sealant nice time you restore them tends to last way longer then your typical waxes. Let it clear for 24 hours then you can always apply a wax if you choose. Or seal them with mineral sprit/paint thinner mix.

But... why? As I said, no sealant, no clear. Just waxed them every once in a while with the buffer during the process of waxing the whole car and a year and a half without problems. They weren't perfect after I wet-sanded them, already 12 years aged with no TLC... but they were better than before and I got some light back out of them. Another simple wet sanding with 2000 this spring and more polishing and they will last another year or so and I'll be happy.

I will likely buy replacements for a retro before I do any hard work to the factory ones I have now. New perfect lens will work better for the projectors.

Just other ways of sealing them without having to constantly worry about waxing them etc. I wax my car often enough and the headlights get the same treatment but sometimes there might be weeks or months that go buy and I'm just not able to find the time so its just peace of mind to me.
