Ok I bought some aftermarket projector HID headlights for my 1999 gtp and I'm not happy with them. They don't fit right and they won't come on sometimes. I was wanting some help on finding a good pair of aftermarket headlights that would look good and work good for my car.... Thank you!!!

Headlights won't "not come on" unless you have a problem with the bulbs or such themselves. Or if you have a bad HID kit, if you have an HID kit. Also, relay harness for these cars if you are running HIDs.

Headlights and tail lights we buy are just enclosures, so they're not a problem other than ****ty output because of bad projectors/reflectors.
 
so... what did you do? Buy a set of Projector headlights and then purchased a set of HID's and put them in the headlight? Kinda confusing reading projector HID headlight since they're two separate things.

What kind of HID kit did you buy. There are some very bad quality headlights out there, I'd stay away from. Do you have a relay harness?

I got this style headlight. I like the light out put and they're pretty cool.

Well I bought a HID/projector housing kit. They came together, it's just easier to say projector HIDs. I just assumed everyone would understand. I bought them from ilovebodykits.com, They are genki tuning. They have the halos and led turn signals and came with the HID kit. They looked good on the site but they don't fit good (big gaps), there isnt a lot of adjustment, the mounting bracket is terrible and fits really loose so they shake a lot, some of the LEDs and halos don't work, the HID kit seems cheap because the lights flicker a lot or don't come on at all sometimes. I don't have a relay harness so that may solve that problem.
 
Man that's an expensive ass relay harness! I got mine for $10 from VVME.com

Yea man if I were you, I would get rid of the headlights you have.. they're garbage... literally.

Get one of the two that were posted. The first one now have CCFL halos which are awesome but cost a lot more. Or you can always stick with the stock black housings that looks good on every car!
 


The one's you have fromthe link posted are the worst of the projectors for a 97-03. They have the worst light output of all of them. You are better off running stock headlights or even black headlights compared to those. The one's CTKGP09 has, have the best light output of them all. I had them with HIDs and the light output is very good. They do show gaps from the bumper a well and shake as well. Search spyder projectors and you can find the issues and fixes for them.
 
Nawarkk, what brand of light housing doyou have on your car? Do you have any problems with them? The spyder brand don't sound bad but I want to consider all options this time before ordering any.

The one's he has are often referred to as the dash z racing projectors. They use an H3 bulb versus the H1 that the spyder projectors use. Both style projectors have bouncing issues. But as stated there are various types of fixes to either eliminate or limit the bounce of the headlights. The only downside to the one's nawarkk has is the bulb. An H3 bulb is typically a fog light bulb. I have seen the light output on these and it looks to narrow compared to the spyder projectors.

That one has terrible light out put from what I've seen personally and read online. There are big gaps, and bounce like no other.

Yea i have these and im not to happy with them, they used to bouce very bad but i put weather stripping under them and they dont bounce anymore, but the light output is poor and i have 8k HID i think it should be a lot better, and on one of the halos only half of it lights up
 


I do alot of HID work, and I was shocked how well my OEM housings reacted to a dual beam install. There isn't too bad of hot spots, and with proper aiming, the glare to oncoming traffic seems to be minimal based on my ride home. (not flashed once)

I was going to do projectors, but the retrofits don't fit well (housing is too small in the back where I would want them) and the aftermarket seem to be compromises.
 
Ive been looking at projectors from zomk speed, and ccfl ones on ebay does anybody on here have any experience with them. Hows the lite output do they bounce alot stuff like. Any info is greatly appreciated
