• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

(*&%!# Photobucket

Photobucket has been terrible for the past few years. I've started using imgur because my old laptops can't handle it.

That said, I just logged into pb, and all my pics are still there.

Yep yep. I gotta say it rubs me the wrong way when people gripe about free things that they find useful. Did any of us really think it was forever?

$400 is extremely exorbitant for 3rd party hosting. I can buy a domain and host a ton of pictures for less than that. They are blackmailing people is what they are doing.

Yup!

That's why they can go screw themselves... When I have free time I'll go there and delete everything. Shame is with DIY and forums like this, they instantly screwed every single thread using their hosting. I'm wondering if a class action lawsuit will follow this, something offered free, then removed causing harm. Is terrible and nothing but BS. They'll get a few people, but I remember a few social sites thinking they would charge, and news media too, trying to charge what they offered freely beforehand and in all cases, they failed miserably! It will end bad for them as well.

I've never been a big fan of photobucket, their website is insanely slow on my connection and I've never liked their layout either.

Imgur would be a good replacement if you aren't looking for any nonsense.

You can get some pretty cheap shared hosting and that'll serve you just as well if not better.

Amazon photos is giving me trouble. Uploaded 250 or so images and fixed everything yesterday. Right away I noticed some of my preview images on Amazon were getting fuzzy until I clicked them. By the end the pics lagged loading from gpf.

I had some views on my ride thread. This morning the pics aren't loading at all. I chalked this up to a bandwidth issue on their end. But I don't think that's entirely correct.

My gf works for a software developer (Rt Vision) and deals with Amazon Web Hosting Services daily while they get more hardware. Was supposed to be a temporary fix. Rt also has connectivity issues quite often. Amazon is in the habit of moving parts of their software around during maintenance. This has left entire counties without access to accounting/payroll. Sometimes its minutes, sometimes they have to work on code for half a day to get it back up. It's unfortunate.

I might try my isp because I understandably have trust issues with any "free" service, atm.

You get what you pay for. LOL

I've used http://www.supermotors.net/ for over 15 years with hardly an issue. I pay ($30 for 2 or 3 years), so can't comment on the free part. They tend not to renew you on time, so I'm sure I've gotten some free rental time from them.

I'm thinking I will go with supermotors myself. It appears that they are exactly what I want, a hosting provider that caters exclusively to car hobbyists/enthusiasts. They also say that they're hosting is free. I very much doubt that they will ever hold by photos at ransom like photosuckit. If they do require payment, I feel like they might be a little more pleasant to deal with, being a mom-n-pop operation.

Copied from their front page:

[h=3]Welcome to SuperMotors.net[/h]SuperMotors provides free photo, audio, & video hosting for aftermarket and performance enthusiasts for Cars & Trucks, ATVs, Boats, Motorcycles, Snowmobiles, and Watercrafts. Join today or see our full service offering.

Their free part has been free and the same the whole time I've been with them, so your words are correct.

This is what you get for free:
