• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I inquired about a 2000 GTP on craigslist today. I'm thinking it's a scam. Let me know what you think. If not, I'm gonna snatch this up. Here is the eMail I received for my inquiry:

The car has 63,020 miles, automatic trans,1owner.It's in perfect condition,no engine/electric problems,no accidents/liens/loans.Exterior no scrataches, never been repainted,Interior no rips/tears/stains,never smoked inside.I have all the car's manuals,2 spare of keys, title, documents.I'm selling the car because my child of only 19 died 4 months ago in a truck accident,a drunk driver hit him and his fiancee. He was with his fiance's truck coming to our home at his little brother birthday of 10 years old.
This 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP was his car and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it.The last price is $2,867.00.Me and my husband travel a lot with our business and we want to make this deal through eBay's Vehicle Purchase Protection Program.I just need your full name, full shipping address, home/cell # so I can open a case.(with no further obligation or fees).eBay will contact you with all the Transaction/shipping details you will need.We will take care of the shipping so don't worry.
We hope to hear soon from you.

No I have that color on my 2000. Unless being a GT makes a difference. The pictures look legit. But if you do follow up on it I would ask to meet them face to face. Look at the car for real. Otherwise walk away. Especially since there engrisch is pretty poor.....:th_laugh-lol2:

Thank you for clearing that up. learned something new:th_lightbulb:

The part that made me do a double take was the pictures. One doesn't usually see 23 legit looking, PhotoBucket photos on a scam. I figured it was a scam, but wanted to see if anyone else had come across this before. The real deal breaker is that it is no longer on craigslist.

What I wanna is why they wanna go through ebay. I'm assuming the car is local or somewhat local so why bother with the hassle of ebay. FWIW I couldn't find the car on ebay.

What you might wanna try is searching somewhere else thats like halfway across the country in a bigger city and see if you can find it. If you do then it's obviosly a scam.

I've found plenty of Camaros listed at rediculous prices and I go "hmmm, this can't be real". So I search somewhere thats like 12 hours away and sure enough i usually find it.

I don't care what the situation is, anytime the seller jumps right into trying to get information so they can get the car shipped to you (without even talking about you actually looking at the car)....best bet is to walk away. The car looks great in those pics, but photobucket be damned, the add is rotten.

Probably not what you want to here, being such a nice car for a great price and all. If something is too good to be true, 99% of the time, it isn't true.

I've been using ebay for over 5 years both buying and selling, they dont need your personal information to sell you a car. They can simply list it, wait for bids, and if you win you can pick it up. Craigslist also specifically notes that anyone who offers to ship a car to you is a fraud. If you can't meet him locally, tell him to list the car on ebay, he can list it for free using classifieds, but otherwise it doesnt really sound legit.
