Perf Shift

how would one go about getting performance shift on a car without performance shift already on the knob?
would i just need a new knob? or would i need a whole transmission?
and finally, the big question, is it worth it?

Not worth it. At all. What year is your car? The later models had performance mode built into the PCM and its always on I believe.

perf shift makes a big difference in how the car shifts, you can have you pcm tuned to up the line pressure in your trans, and firm up the shifts.

i think i did read somewhere that you can wire the button up but you need to put the wires into the pcm by pining it into the harness plug i believe. there was a write up some where.

i think charlie the van man swapped over the perf shift button into the mini van.

not sure if its even an option for a N/A, unless its tuned into the pcm and runs full time. could do a shift kit. that will firm up your shifts.

I have opinions. Which ones you want?

Perf shift was typically not noticable on stock transmissions past 30-50K miles. It's only a couple hundred rpm difference. You can add it if you put in a DHP file to add that opt and wire in a switch.

You say on a stock transmission, let's say I throw in like a thrasher shift kit, and then also dhp the performance shift in. Would it be more noticeable?

If you have the dhp out to program it. Make it more than 200 rpm difference and up the line pressure enough to notice it.

However from your previous posts. You likely have other issues that you should be fixing before going into something like this.
