People Who Rice Out Cavaliers

"As part of a wider effort to avoid additional restrictions on exports to the US, the third generation model was briefly sold in Japan by Toyota under an agreement with GM, badged as the Toyota Cavalier. Aside from the fact that it was right hand drive, the Toyota Cavalier also featured a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel, wider front fenders, amber turn signals for Japanese regulations, power folding side mirrors, side turn signal repeater lights on the front fenders, and carpeting on the inside of the trunk lid. Interior seats were often flecked with color, and the rear seat had a fold-down armrest. The Toyota Cavalier was entirely produced by GM in the USA and sold from 1995–2000. 1996-2000 Toyota Cavaliers came equipped with the 2.4 L LD9 engine, while the 1995 used the 2.3 L Quad 4.
While all Chevrolet-badged Cavaliers received a facelift for 2000, the Toyota did as well with the updated center console, head-lights/hood/front bumper, tail-lights, and colors available.
A fair number of these vehicles are re-exported as Japanese used cars, most notably to New Zealand. Production of the Toyota Cavalier ceased in June 2000.
TRD made a body kit and rear wing for the Cavalier, available exclusively in Japan."

Interesting... think some of those body kits made it here?

Yes some kits made it here. But the original TRD kit was destroyed a few years back. Good luck finding originals. They can be had but will cost a pretty penny. Theres a guy on the JBO who has an original TRD spoiler and another that has a full kit minus the spoiler. Gravana Tuning sells a remolded TRD kit. The front bumper costs around $600 and about $1000 for a carbon one.

I've actually seen a few cars out there pretty riced up that were actually modded to an ungodly level. Saw a Civic with some Chameleon paint and a kit that had turbo, and there was about $30,000 in receipts with the car. Out of $30,000, how much do you think he spent on paint and a kit? Either way I'm sure it was pretty quick, never got to drive it.

You can buy a heck of a car for 30k, I don't understand modding a P.O.S. to that degree, like hmm should I buy a NEW CAMARO, or a weak sauce civic and then mod it til its as fast as a camaro but looks like something that a clown who just tasted the rainbow would crap?

We own a 99 Cav... its white 2 door auto with altezza lights... I hope that doesnt make "rice".... oh yeah it has the black steelies on it too!... that might LOL!

Wifes commuter.... she likes how it goes thru the snow...

It has no stickers.... stickers of anykind (Even lay overs)= Rice :)

Also painted brake drums= Rice ... our Cavailer doesnt have either or painted interior...or a bodykit... or Dubs ... or tinted windows... or projector lights ... or a spoiler come to think of it after reading this post

Yep just a plain old Cavalier (rust free)

This is true there is a kid that has a cav and he brags like no other how fast he is. Once i was driving going to eat with a bunch of people and he pulled up to me on his cav. His cav has neon lights, sub, a fart can, the car is tan with blue interior big ass spoiler, no rims, ok the worst freaking looking cav i have seen started rev his engine and shifted his automatic car to first gear ( what was he thinkgin ):th_scratchhead: and started to treat his car like it was a stick :th_scratchhead:. I have a grand prix gtp i know i am not the fastest car u know and will not try to race a car i know is going to win. So he started to go and i just gunned it and past him like nothing I hate this kid if i find pics i will post cause it the most stupid cav i have seen.

This is the cav what u guys think lol ??

To be honest, your taste IS questionable.

I know, but it's what I like. I did it not because I like altezzas, but because I hate stockers. It's also why I avoided chrome altezzas, because I really wanted something more tasteful looking in the first place. But I do enjoy these on my car, and I have had some compliments just for having them.

My goal isn't to be a ricer, or to have some meat-head motor setup, but to be unique. No one else has to like it, only I do. [/rant]

Anyway, yeah I don't like Cavaliers in general, but I do hate when people give me **** about my car and don't have anything that can match up, specifically when they do it out of pure jealousy. I don't go bragging it up, it's stock in any case, but I do get frustrated...

This is the cav what u guys think lol ??
Ask him if he wants to trade. Always wanted a tan car with hub caps and a big wing. Also, gauge pillar, blue/black interior with a RED steering wheel cover... =P
