Parking brake pads stuck

1993 Grand Prix SE has the parking brake integral with the rear calipers.

During state inspection, the mechanic said the parking brake was not releasing the pads.

I remember something about this era always having a problem with the rear brakes.

Other than the obvious check the cable adjustment, lube, etc. is there a commom problem with these?

And solution?

Other than checking the cables, lubing the parts and seeing if anything else is wrong I would say you will have to replace the calipers if the problem continues.
 
Yeah this will be like the third set of calipers if it gets to that point... Poor design really
