my parking brake broke the other day, while doing some 180's. you can just push it to the floor. What do u think is wrong? is the cable broke?

Either you wore out the shoes, damaged the inside of your rear rotors, or snapped the cable.

Our cars aren't like other cars where you can just apply the parking brake with the vehicle moving and its okay. It uses a separate system besides the rear calipers and it will wear out and damage quickly if you apply it too much with the vehicle in motion. That's why it's a parking brake, and not an emergency brake. They are not the same.

when i bought my car it was broken right at the back, in the middle. Theres a coupler type thing that holds the left side and right side together. Its like 10 bucks at GM. You'll see what im talking about when you get under the car. Its a real easy fix if thats the problem, and if you have a hoist lol.

X2 at what Sabre said, it is a parking brake guy. Not meant for "drifting" and doing cool tricks haha. Go pick yourself up a real cheap 5 speed hyundai if you want to be doing that ROFLMAO

+ for future reference if you buy a car and it hasn't been used/you never use it don't just start doing it you can blow the lines and get it locked you want to get it serviced first. :th_thumbsup-wink:

So how do you stop the car if the brakes go bad? The parking brake does work as an emergency brake. It may damage it but I would much rather damage my parking/emergency brake then crash the car. For the initial drive home in my car it was essentially the only brake I had but it worked.
