So over the past couple years, my 02 GT has gone through 3 car batteries. I don't drive it much in the summer, as I have another vehicle, but I do drive it exclusively in the winter. The 1st battery I chalked up to bad luck. 2nd battery, I figured maybe I left a dome light on, and it drained/froze in the winter. Now it's on its 3rd battery, and it drained after sitting for 2 weeks. Interior lights would still come on, as would the radio. It sat another 2 weeks, and now it was 100% dead. I put it on a slow charge, and its working again now, but I knew I had to get to the bottom of this.
So now on to the point of the thread. I figured there was no way I'd have such bad luck with batteries, so it had to be some kind of parasitic draw. I got out my multimeter, hooked it up, and found a constant 90-100 milliamp draw.
After having a buddy over last night, we pulled each fuse 1 by 1, and determined that the power door lock was causing the excessive draw, as the draw dropped to 50 milliamps immediately after pulling the door lock fuse. So now my question is, what part of the door locks need to be replaced? Just the switch? Or do I need to replace the wiring harness as well? I see some parts available on Rockauto for the auto-door lock switches, but I don't want to just throw all the parts at it, if replacing one will do.
Any specific way to figure out which one to replace? Or am I better off just replacing all of them. It'd be roughly 150 bucks....
PS. Is 50 milliamps a normal draw? No other fuses I pulled seemed to have an effect on dropping it any....
