Painting Tail lights

So I've been having a mod itch lately and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some ways to paint a tail light?

I know there's lots of people that tint them, but instead of me buying 100$ in halogen bulbs when they need replaced. I want to do something different.

Recommend paints that stick better? or a process that works really well?

Automotive paint should stick to plastic lens covers as long as the covers are CLEAN and well sanded. I might use an adhesion promoter like this one Dupli-Color :: Adhesion Promoter

I would clean the lenses with with an automotive degreaser and then wet sand them with 220 grit paper, any finer and the paint might not stick. Then use the adhesion promoter following the directions for proper flash time (if any is needed). The paint and clear.

I would wet sand with 400 paper (Very lightly) after the first coat of paint and then after clearing, I would wet sand with 1000, 1500 and then a good rubbing compound to get the mirror finish.
