seen that ALOT of people have this code and my question is.... what has everyone found that fixes the problem? new cat or 02 sensor? those are the two main things that i have seen but no body ever says what they did to fix the problem. and i am getting ready to swap pulleys, does that issue need taken care of before the swap?

Its mainly going to be the cat The rear o2 reads cat efficientcy
so it can be rear o2 sensor or the cat it self

You have to determine if the p0420 is an actual problem or not. You need to clear the code, drive the hell out of it for a few miles or more and see if it returns. If someone drives it like a granny all the time, you will most likely see this code as the catalyst rarely will reach operating temperature.

I have heard some aftermarket cats do not do a good enough job and set off the code. Some just ignore it if it comes on shortly after a new aftermarket cat is installed.

high flow cats can throw 420 codes you would need the code deleted or a o2 simulator
