• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Yes I know it is random misfire...I have a snap-on scanner and when looking at the data for individual cylinders it shows 1-4 having hundreds of misfires...I am running NGK plugs gapped at .052 and I have the xp hot cam...can someone give me an idea of what I should do? I don't want to throw coil packs at it but would change plugs...if so what plugs? and what gap?
My mods are in my SIG

Thanks

Start by checking your plugs and wires, and then go on to the coil pack. Remember, on a waste spark system, if cylinder #1 can't spark for some reason, then chances are that #4 won't either, and visa vursa. It is actually a complete circuit from one terminal on the coil pack to the other.

Since you have the xp cam you have to turn that code off in the PCM with a tuner. All cars with the xp cam must do this for the ses light not to come on. It's nothing abnormal.

I got the PCM from ZZP and was sure that they did that but obviously not huh:th_shakinghead2:

Once again it looks like they messed up. Would definetly get in touch with someone about it.

I've been hearing that alot on here...Sure wish I would have done my research on here before I went out and spent so much money with them! Over all I have been impressed but don't like some of the storys I hear.
I will still check everything out and will probably change my plugs anyways...I know my wires aren't bad they are new and I tested them before installing them so it's plugs or coils I guess

You know what im saying though right? Nothing is wrong and you actually arent REALLY getting any misfires. It just apeares that way because of the cam you have in there.

Yeah I do...I want to change my plugs anyways...I have NGK TR6's gaped at .052 was told the autolites are better?

Both are fine. Autolites are cheaper. Our cars come stock with NGK's. I personally run Autolites because of the price and that you can get them at Wal-mart. If you want to run them you would probably want to run A104's or 103's.

Before we get too crazy here.....

Are you showing an SES code? It is common because of the duration of the XP cam for the computer to show what it believes to be misfires in the cylinders...this doesn't necessarily mean that you are actually getting misfires. Dave has discovered recently that when you delete the P0300 code it makes it extremely difficult to diagnose an actual misfire.

If the NGK's are working for you, and you're not seeing knock at wide open, then you may be OK. If you are showing significant knock, then stepping back down a heat range to a traditional plug will also help.
