Here is the chain of events, in October was preparing for a vacation. In my haste and distractions I filled the tank beyond normal to where I completely filled the filler neck of the tank. The next day the check engine light came on and remained that way during most of the trip. On a few occasions it went out but would come back usuallly the next time it was started. Car seems to run fine with no precieved roughness or idle issues. I finally was able to get a fix on the code, P0107 the MAP sensor. The reader I was using showed real time outputs and the reading I was getting was a steady 3.0. Replaced the map sensor, reset the code and again the check engine light came back with the same code. Hoping tomorrow to look under the hood for any vaccume hose problems or rotted fittings.

Can't think of any reason the tank over fill would have any bearing on this problem. Also do not have any manuals that show locations of vaccume hoses etc so at this point I am poking at possibilities right now. Any help or thoughts on this problem would be gretaly appreciated.

The car is a 2006 Grand Prix 3.8 ltr with 80,000 on it right now.
 


Here is some followup information on the problem. Check engine light is still on. Replaced the MAP sensor with no change. Could not locate any vaccume leaks. It's a three wire connector I do know it's a 5 volt supply but unsure about the pin out for it. Can anyone give me that info so that I can check the incoming voltage so I don't blow something up? Never know how sensitive these computers and wiring can be to testing. Any help would be appreciated.
 
P0107 sets for excessively low voltage to the sensor. It is a 0-5V reference voltage.
The PCM detects that the MAP sensor voltage is less than 0.1 volt for more than 3 seconds.
So it may be an intermittent connection. Check your wiring, connections at the PCM.

Is DTC P0641 also set?

From the vehicle harness:
Pin A Low reference Orange/black?
Pin B Map Sensor Signal Lime Green
connector tab inbetween B&C
Pin C 5V reference Grey
 
No P0641 code, just the P0107. Will take some readings off the harnes and see if there is a voltage issue. Was also going to try removing the battery leads for S&G's to see if it's brain siezed up (probably not the case) Thanks for the assistance. Will followup when complete.

an update, I did check the voltage and there is no voltage that I can read going to the sensor. I unseated and reseated the PCM connectors, looked for obvious problems that might be causing it but found nothing. Not sure where I am at right now other than the mystery deepens. I have until May to get this fixed. Emmissions are due then.

Okay, located the problem and repaired. The wiring harness that straddles the front valve cover had been worn through do to vibration. One wire was severed and 3 others had been worn through but not severed. Was the grey wire that caused the drop in voltage. Was difficult to find because the outer wrap did not look damaged. Was only visible after the wrap was removed to expose the wiring harness. This was a easy problem to fix but a difficult one to find. Although there are no standoffs on the harness at that point.
