Overheating, need info

My 2000 GTP constantly overheats while in traffic, 220+. While driving on the highway it stays steady at 180, which is the tstat that I have in there. I have read many posts in the forums regarding this issue and have yet to find a definitive answer or fix on this issue.

I have replaced the following: LIM and UIM/Supercharger Gasket, Tstat, Coolant Temp Sensor, Coolant Flush, Coolant Elbows, Bled the air out many times both through the rad cap and tstat housing. I am not losing a drop of coolant.

I find that I am driving around with the a/c on even when it is not hot outside just to keep the rad fans running to keep the temp down.

Anybody have any fixes for this issue would be much appreciated.
 


mine usually stays cool around the mid bar range while in stop and go and around 180 (tstat 180) on the highway and long stretches. as long as its not steaming.. and boilng.. or something of that nature.. no worries
 


Mine runs like 185 to 190 on the highway with a 180 stat and i've hit a little over 200 at lights but i don't ever sit in traffic at a dead stop with no airflow but the temps gonna climb until the fan kicks on when your just sitting

Yes the fans do kick in, somewhere around 220-230F. I never noticed this issue until I had a P code to replace the ECT sensor. I replaced the sensor and have noticed this issue ever since. The temp could be sitting around 195 while driving and then all of a sudden it will just shoot up to 220+ in seconds. If I have my window down or I park and get out I smell coolant although like I said I am not losing a drop. In my experience with my other vehicles the engine coolant temp reaches its operating temp and stays there, it does not shoot way up then drop way down.
