If anyone can help i would be greatful. I have a 2004 grand prix gt has 248,000 mile on it. Have already put a new water pump on a few months ago because it was leaking thought that would fix problem. Seemed to but started overheating again few weeks ago. Changed thermostat right after water pump. Changed elbows about a year ago. Changed temperature sensor 3 years ago. Car is fine as long as it is moving and does not have to sit and idle at lights and traffic. It actually went in the red line and never has done that before. While checking things the other day found that upper radiator hose had a cut in it so replaced that.Bought a coolant temperature sensor but could not put it in yet. While testing to see if it gets hot noticed that the first fan comes on when ac is on but second one does not and once the car get at the half way point on the gauge the fan shuts off. Have checked relays and fuses they click and check out with cintinuity check. Radiator was full and coolant was under where the thermostat is. If any one has seen this let me know. Right after the water pump was done got an engine code that said something about the coolant fan and was told probably a bad wire. That is the only code i have. Tested the thermostat and could not see it open and close. So may have to change that. Oh forgot this AC is good and cold when car starts but once it gets up in temperature it blows not hot but not cold air and can here the compressor kick out. Have not been able to test second fan yet.
