Overhead engine support



What exactly are you trying to hang the motor to do? I had to do this on my old motor to get to the pan and just used 2 2x4's on their edge between the fenders and a chain on the stock hooks of the motor. Never even moved.
 
Frankly not sure what I'm going to end up doing with it. Going to be working on several things and can't feasilbly pull the motor out just wondering how well these work before I start building one from high grade steel tubing.
 


I just used some angle iron bolted together with some 8 gauge wire to wrap around the engine brackets.
 
Well looks like i'm just going to pull the whole thing anyway. Cost of a cheap foldaway hoist and engine stand is low enough to just go ahead and buy a set. Unless I can borrow a set from a friend since I am already borrowing his spare pickup.
 
Lucky for me it is a 4x4. 95 dodge dakota that was rebuilt after a nasty accident back in 98. Only has 120k miles. Going to try to convince him to sell it to me.
