Over heating...

I know I know everyone has posted something on an overheated thread... but none seem to have my problem... My car's temp gauge is over heating, No warning lights from dash,

The gauge goes up and nearly to red and just sits there. I have a 180 thermo in it right now, and it is opening up. my fans DO COME ON.

I can let it sit for hours go out when its at low temp start it and in about 2 minutes its at high temp.

While Driving the more RPM's it gets the cooler it runs.

After changing thermostats, ( done it twice now and even ran it without a thermo just for troubleshooting.) it still heats up...

Ive seen a lot about a CTS but where is it located, how much is it

Water pumps are prolly like 30 bucks but wheres it located and how hard is the process ( is under the car or on top of engine)

please help me this is my only means of trans at the moment... I just find it weird that it cools down as I give more RPM's and it still reads hot even when I know its using water! DAMN CAR!!!

The CTS is just under where the thermostat housing is. Its a brass looking thing with a two wire connector.

The water pump is about center of the motor on the side with the serpentine belts. its not hard at all to replace.

The likely reason it cools off when you running higher rpms is that 1.) your likely going faster which increases air flow over the radiator and/or 2.) your spinning the water pump faster which increases flow.

I would do a pressure test on the system as well before starting to replace a bunch of stuff as if the system has a leak somewhere, that could cause higher operating temps as well from not being able to pressurize properly. Could even be the radiator cap.

Well i just checked the CTS and it was connected I even disconnected and reconnected... We'll see how that does tonight. Ill check to see about system pressurization tomorrow, and maybe a PCM temp Scan hopefully. if that all checks good would you look at a water pump?

Wouldnt be bad to start there, but just because the CTS is connected doesnt mean it is reading correctly and the PCM, I believe uses that sensor as well so it may read the same or close to what it does on the dash. That said, they are not particularly known for going bad, so its hard to say on that one but the water pump would be a more likely place.
