i bought a totaled gtp that was hit around the door but snaped the tie rod and broke the axle both in half. but the output shaft just comes right out out is that suppose to happen should i be worried about any transmission parts being messed up?

The output one on drivers side?
Looks like this

The clip is broken that holds the spider gear in the diff. to the axle. It would be a good idea to remover the diff. cover and diff. assembly to remove the pieces so they do not end up between the gears and causing more damage.

Bro he didn't say anything about it breaking...just ask if it was supposed to come out. If on drivers side yes its fine and will go back in. Now the clip he is referring to is the tiny one there should be one on both ends of the shaft. Make sure their there. If not do what ^^^^^ said

There is a clip at each end. The one at the diff let go easier than the one on the axle.. no big deal. Pound the axle piece off the shaft and reinsert it. Once it's in place give it a whack to seat it the last 3/4" or so into the diff. Now put the new axle in.

Zach..one thing I forgot to metnion. Make sure you put the correct end back in the trans first. There is a difference.

If u look at my pic up there the end that has a couple inches of shiny smooth section is the end the CV shaft goes on. Other end is the end that goes in the tranny
