'97's had the VG30DE...the 3.0 liter DOHC and it wraps to about 7 grand making power all the way up there too. If it is a 5-spd he'll win, I'll bet money on it. The Auto's shift slow and at 6500 so they don't get to utilize the powerband like the 5-spd's do. The auto you might beat. Don't push off a maxima...especially the new ones. Now they are VQ37 powered IIRC or VQ35...still plenty of enough power and they hang with GTP's and are N/A.

Can the GTP packs be swapped into a GT?

I test drove like a 98ish maxima and that thing had some kick to it! Comparing that to my 99GT Grand Prix...I think the maxima would have ate it for lunch!!

i'm not sure.. i had one of those maxima's for a little while.. it's pretty similar.. i think the maxima has the edge though.

So last night i ended up running the Maxima and a Mazda 626. The Nissan I pulled about 2 car lengths on and the 626 about 3 car lengths on it all the way to 85.
