Out of curiosity EGR/IC Issues?

I'm a ways from going IC'd but I was curious if anyone has had issues running an IC and retaining the EGR? I noticed how little time it takes to make this thing Filthy. That's got to affect airflow, or at least heat-exchanging efficiency of a core... Especially a nicer, more densely finned core. I have emissions in my area and that's why I ask. I may end up cheating and registering it in Wyoming with a PO box haha.

I wouldn't run it that way but it won't pass an emissions inspection without EGR there. Could I gut it or something so it looks okay haha?

you can obviously pass obd2 with no EGR. Visual you can do block of plates and maybe pass if they dont get to involved. Most places just mirror the Cat though

Won't pass visual; OBDII isn't my concern... I live in Boulder County, as in Boulder, CO. Hippies run this county and they are sticklers... I mean like a mirror and flashlight in the engine bay. I'm fingers crossed on block-off plates.

Hve someone with a tuner set your egr for some crazy high ect temp turn on. I know a guy that did that. Basically the computer waits for the engine to warm up to a certain temp to begin using the egr. With the temp set higher than the engine will ever see, you basically eliminated your egr while keeping it bolted up

I just looked threw my bin in hptuners, I would not find any way to disable the egr in there. You can always just block the egr hole in the supercharger and leave it on with the flow codes deleted.

ha............

put the EGR in.

have it tuned so it wont throw a code.

run around with it unplugged.

time for the test? plug it back in just before you get there.

unplug after you leave.

Go into HPT on teh first and front engine page is EGR diagnostics. Set the temp to 284 to keep the EGR from working. It's that easy.

I had visual inspection here and left my EGR on the motor as well to pass. It was there, plugged in (they might notice if you unplug it, because it's right on top) and totally unfunctional. Heck..the core typically blocks the flow. Then tell the diags not to try and it never reports an issue.
