Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

sorry it was so long, thanks for looking and ill post pics of the rebuild later.

Part II the rebuild

well it all started after the car surviving a bad lim gasket leak, was drivin alittle with milk oil and burning coolent. also it did not see oil changes much. So one night after returning from a 500 mile road tripmy freind wanted to race my car, he has a 91 talon DS with the 1.8 and a slippping clutch. so we race, i bet him by a few car lenths. then notice a knocking noise from the bottom driver side of engine, check the oil and find metal shavings. so i buy a cheap car from my friend and start the rebuild.

start disasembly and pull

I thought you were supposed to have the block bore aligned if using main studs.

regardless, hoping for the best with the rebuild.

thanks guys, i hope it holds too. its been a few months and 5000 miles, so far so good.

I thought you were supposed to have the block bore aligned if using main studs.

ive heard that too, i was unaware of that when rebuilding tho ( my mistake ). ive also heard that only a hand full of rebuilt 3800s last, hopefully im one.

Right. 5K is the killer mark.

If you don't have the block align bored for those main studs...your going to be yanking it back out again...

im still a newbie to the engine building game, so what exactly will happen since it wasent bore aligned ? the side main bolts went in no problem and i didnt see any difrences from stock. im not doubting what your saying just dont understand, please explain

thanks
