• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Opinions...?

Koniig

Brightening up your day.
I have an 07 GXP as my signature may suggest. Problem is (long story) I can't really do much to it. Now I really want some kind of cheap, older, manual, (preferably JDM and RWD rx7, mr2, 240sx, etc... :th_nervous:) car that I can learn on.

Just need some ideas on cars that would fall under this category for under $2000. I say so cheap because I would love to find a deal like CMURDAx got on his eclipse. I looked on Chicago Craigslist but can't think of specific cars to put in as a keywords and there are simply too many.

Thanks for the help guys :)

I'd say 1K...or find a roller early to mid 80's RX7 and put a 350 in it with a big snail...and run 9's with the proper tire/suspension on teh cheap...turbo V8 power in a car that weighs what...2500 lbs? Win. Or...240SX and put a LS1 in it...epic drift machine with sechsee exhaust notes.

I have been looking for rx7's. Doesn't seem to be much in the Chicago area (that are worth my time at least). And I love 240s but once again, not much going on here.

if u want to travel to indiana i know of a 77 porsche 924 4 speed for 500 bucks. it has a ****ty motor but like blue said you can put a sbc in one of those. also i know u dont want fwd but i also know of a 500 dollar probe gt 5speed on the indianapolis craigslist. those are actually light cars with a good platform imo.

Or an old Datsun...I want to do a 240SX or a old 260/280Z and put a 383 in it...with a procharger...just like that crazy fek on youtube who gets sideways in every damned gear...I love it.

1g turbo eclipse/talon
S14 240SX (SR swap)
87-93 5.0 Mustang
Honda EG Civic Hatch, swaps are like a buffet. k20,b16,b20.....do your research and take your pick.

In no particular order.

So what I'm seeing is that an eclipse/talon/laser turbo deal is pretty solid huh?

And like I said love older nissans, but it really is hard finding a clean 240 with towers and frame not rusted to ****.

One more thing, civics? Never really gave them any consideration..

Why do you guys say civics? Just because they are easy to learn on?

easy to work on easy to mod
I say early 90's preludes or hactback si's because on the street racing scene hatchbacks were hard to beat

plus engine swaps are pretty comon and easy
