opinions on blu-ray dvd

DaytonaGTP

Its not that small is it?
just curious if any of you think blu-ray dvds are worth the buy. reason im asking is i recently got me a new tv and finally was able to enjoy hd with my ps3. well heres the thing i did a little experiment with a movie. a coworker of mine brought over his blu-ray version of 2012, i have the standard version. i set the res upscaler on the ps3 and i watched the standard dvd. then i set up the blu ray dvd afterwords. i gotta tell you i really couldnt see a noticable difference between the 2. i know the upscaler allows you to view standard dvds in hd but i figured the actual blu-ray would be much clearer and to be honest if that was it i cant justify spending the extra cash for a blu-ray. what are your thoughts?

only some movies are 1080p, like batman had very good graphics. you have to check the back for 1080p, and only some games support 1080p

I only purchase blu-rays for action movies and that is it. plus what are the specs on your new tv? Watched Avatar on a super nice lcd hd tv and wow way better than a regular dvd.

I have yet to see a non 1080p movie lol.

the games however yes, most are 720p.

its bluray disc ........ lol

and yes, its worth it.

they are cheap now, and look a zillion times better than DVD's, and even HD on digital cable and satellite.

i have a 42 inch 1080p(not 1080i) tv with 120hz/ 5ms response time and a 120hz hdmi cable . i was under the impression that all bluray were 1080p. i know some games are 720p or 1080i or p. im just sayin that i really cant imagine they look much better considering the differences between these 2 versions of 2012 i watched. its not that im not gonna buy them. but if they were really that much better i was going to replace a few of my movies for the blu ray version. im just not convinced.

5 ms Grey/grey.

Find me a set that does 5 ms black to black LOL

720 P games on a 1080p set doesnt end well.

especially if theres no AA.

then it just looks like you're stuck in 1996 when digital cameras were $1500 for 3 megapixles and still produced jagged images....
