ya i started my own thread too but i resolved the issues on my own so i didnt get very many replies... is it normal for these 3800 supercharged engines to tick loudly for alittle bit on a cold start?

How loudly? Mine is non-supercharged and ticks a little bit at start up when its well below zero outside.
 
oil is full its fairly loud... but it goes away after about 5 min and its only when its cold out (below 30 degrees)
 


Carbon knock? Carbon deposits on the piston can come into contact with the cylinder head at TDC. This normally occurs as a knock when cold but goes away when the engine is warm.
