This unit was installed on the car when I bought it used. 99 GTP. It wasn't secured under the dash very well and always seemed to hang down and get in the way of my feet. I constantly shoved it back under the dash. The signal seemed to get weaker and weaker so I figured the remote battery was dying. I tested it on the display thing at the parts store, the one you can press the button on your remote and see if it lights up. As I recall it didn't, so I changed out the battery. Didn't seem to help and now all functions have quit working completely. I was in the parts store the other day and by the display the remote is still working. When you turn on or start the car the led on the receiver antenna on the windshield would flash, but it doesn't anymore. I got down under the dash and looked and I had a wire broken. It's a very thin grey wire that runs to the receiver. There are 3 ports on one side of the brain that the receiver plugs into. One is for the LED switch, one is for an override, and one is for window unit receiver. The window unit receiver has 3 wires plugged into it and it looks fine. The override has no wires plugged into it but has 2 prongs, and the LED light has one wire plugged into a 2 prong port. I figured that the grey wire must plug into the LED light port since their are two prongs, but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I touched the grey wire to each of the override prongs, and it makes no difference. If I jump the two ports on the override I can hear the brain click like a relay. I've tried doing the reset procedure as the pdf suggests, but the LED on the receiver won't light up so I don't know what mode it's in. Anyone have any experience with this model?

I don't believe the grey wire I'm talking about is the truck wire, manufacturer's website manual shows that the wires coming from the receiver are in charge of the 3 functions I listed above. I didn't examine it enough to tell, but there's probably a thicker grey wire on the other side with all the main wires. The light on the brain still lights up when the car is turned on, and if I use a test light and touch the blue wire that goes into the receiver the blue leds light up on the receiver. I've searched around for a replacement receiver and brain but it seems like these things are pretty obsolete.

Oh, you're talking about the antenna port, valet port and status port. The antenna should have 3 wires, the valet should have one wire and so should the status/LED. If your valet port doesnt have a wire in it, thats where that wire came from. It goes into the spot on the valet harness that is closest to the LED port. You may need to get a new unit if you jumped your valet pins. I found one here, you'd just have to unplug your unit and plug this one in and rerun the antenna. Its $60

Ya, according to the diagram two.ports get a wire each, then one gets 3. The middle one doesn't have a wire attached, I imagine its supposed to be the grey one, but without color diagrams I don't know. The 3 wire port is black, the middle is blue, the end is white. The white harness was plugged into the blue port, I must have plugged it into that by accident when it fell down one time. Obviously the white connector plugs into the white port. I don't have a blue connector, must have been ripped off. The middle port, which is blue, says override. You called it valet. Is the button on the antenna what goes to that blue override? Still doesn't seem why this wouldn't function properly without it. And why it won't light up when turning on the car.

The antenna or the ports the antenna plug into are probably fried after being connected incorrectly. If it can't receive a signal, it's not going to do anything. Seeing that the LED isn't coming on anymore, that's probably the case.

Ya that makes sense to me. So new brain or new system? Someone was selling a brain for 30 bucks. I can't imagine I'll get a keyless/starter for that. Interesting that this thing says its a remote start, yet my fob only has lock/unlock, trunk, and panic.

Im leaning more towards the antenna being fried. The brain wont help if that's the case. I've had this one on my work truck for over 6 years and have had no problems at all. And it's only $30 now. Amazon.com: Valet 561R Automotive Remote Start System: Car Electronics

I checked that one out, but decided to go with this one:

I guess I get to cramp under the dash and spend Monday wiring it up. Thanks for your help this far.

That'll work too. It is also a DEI system. And I like they separated the lock/unlock button on that one. I have a viper5901 two way paging system, that was on my car, sitting in my closet thats going on the new work truck. That system will drain your battery if it's not a daily driver.
