Olil Pan will this cause a problem?

The guy that installed my radiator (should have done it myself but it was cold out) jacked up my car under the oil pan (yes he denies this) But I have a big concave dent (goes in about an inch to maybe inche and a half. Someone is telling me there is a screen and pick up in there that probably got damage by this and now I have to change the pan I have driven it like this week or so already did not notice any problems but today when I went to change my oil I saw this big dent.

Could be, that'd be the pickup tube they be talkin boot.

If it's blocked then yeah, you got problems.

He probably jacked the car up by the oil pan and had an "OSH!TTT" moment.
 
if you havent had any problems, its not to big of a deal...its not like the pickup is right at the bottom of the pan...while it is close..its not right at it.

the screen is actually more off to the passenger side of the engine. I would probably still get around to changing out the pan
 
Wow quick repsonses this is dead center in the panI mean is sounds and drives like it always did how would I know it that pick up is blocked?
 
You would hear the bottom end rattling and probably the rockers as well, lol.. Oil starvation is usually pretty evident right away. What I would like to know if it's slightly blocked/bent. Then you could have enough oil for now, but might not be flowing as much as it needs and will show up later on as premature engine wear.

Being my paranoid self, I'd change the pan with a jy one and call it good. Yes, the guy screwed it up and will most likely NOT pay for it, but then again he won't pay for a new motor if this one goes due to the dent either. I know it's a PITA to drop the pan on these cars, but....

You'd have already heard bang, clank and clunk from the engine if the tube was clogged. Keep on driving and when it leaks..pull it off...bang the dent out and change the gasket.
 


ya know bill I was wondering that if when I take it off I can jus band it out. I did that with a transmission pan onne I hid a cement block bruied in the dirt it tore a hole in the pan. I pulled the pan banged out the dent then my dad braze the hole shut (or welded nt sure of the diff) My only problem with changing the pan is supoorting the engine and dropping the sub frame I am worried about geeting the frame banck together and about the engine not going in right (wires or hoses ripping out)
 
Read up on how I do transmissions all the time. What I'd do is act like you are doing an oil pan gasket and then just bang out the dent. It's not a bad job with the right tools.

As for the engine/trans falling out etc.. you don't unhook a thing from them. Just undo the motor mount bolts..raise the motor a little and poof..it's all done.
